Marathons

Since 2009, The Blue Card has been an Official Charity Partner of the ING New York City Marathon and has also received donations from individual participants in marathons around the world, including Austria, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, Jerusalem, Rome, and Tel Aviv. Thanks to their commitment and dedication, members of Team Blue Card raised over $800,000 since 2009.

TD Bank 5 Boro Bike Tour

Since 2011, The Blue Card has been an official Charity Partner of The TD Bank 5 Boro Bike Tour in New York City. This 40-mile bike tour, held annually the first Sunday in May, is America's largest cycling event.

In 2012, members were inspired by the participation of New Jersey State Road Race Champion, Mark Yaroshevsky, age 13, a descendant of Ukrainian Jews who were killed at Babi Yar. To date, The Blue Card Cycling Team close to $40,000. This year's event is May 5, 2013.

Joseph

Joseph received emergency cash assistance from The Blue Card.

Joseph is one of the very few children who survived Buchenwald. He was separated from his family at the age of six and managed to stay alive on his own until liberation. A rabbi took him to a Jewish orphanage in Lanse, Belgium to wait for papers so that he could immigrate to America. Joseph traveled on his own to the United States; unfortunately, the adoption fell through and he was sent to Cleveland, where, fortunately he was adopted by another family a few years later.

Joseph is currently 75+ years old and lives in Sagamore Hills, Ohio. He worked at a McDonalds for almost 20 years, even though his feet swelled so much he could barely walk at the end of his shift. He retired to take care of his ailing wife until her recent death. Joseph has no children, and no relatives. All he is left with his enormous grief at losing his wife. The Blue Card provided Joseph with emergency cash assistance so he that may continue living in his apartment without worrying about his monthly rent.
