The Blue Card is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of the Official Charities for the 2010 ING New York City Marathon. This program allows the Blue Card to provide guaranteed marathon entries to runners who pledge to raise funds to The Blue Card.
Established in Germany, in 1934, The Blue Card’s sole purpose was to provide financial assistance to refugees fleeing from that country’s growing persecution. It was re-established in the United States in 1939, to continue aiding people who escaped from the Nazi horror. Today, it is the only organization in the United States whose sole mission is to aid destitute Holocaust survivors by providing cash stipends.
The minimum fundraising commitment for the ING NYC Marathon 2010 is $2,500. Your tax-deductible donations help provide Holocaust survivors with a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS), an electronic device designed to let elderly survivors summon help in an emergency.
As an Official Charity Partner, we will be building a team of 20 runners. In order to ensure that as much of your donation as possible goes back to The Blue Card, you will be responsible for additional costs such as transportation, hotel accommodations and event registration fees.
Your credit card information is required as a guarantee against the pledge.
There is a deposit of $1,000 due by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on August 14th,
2010, and a minimum of $1,500 must be raised by 11:59PM Eastern Time on October
16th, 2010.
In the event that you are unable to meet the minimum fundraising requirements
by August 14th, 2010 of $1,000, The Blue Card reserves the right to charge
the balance to the credit card we have on file. We accept American Express,
Visa & MasterCard.
If an initial credit charge plus any payments from your donors do not total the full minimum pledge of $1,000 by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on October 16th, 2010, your credit card will be charged for the amount necessary to fulfill that pledge. The amount charged to your credit card will be considered a charitable donation and a confirmation of this donation for tax purposes will be sent to you.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your participation with The Blue Card Team – Assisting Destitute Holocaust survivors for the New York City Marathon any time on or before August 13, 2010. You must contact Elie Rubinstein at The Blue Card, in writing, on or before the cancellation date. After August 14th, 2010, you are responsible for raising the $2,500 minimum, even if for any reason, including injury, you are unable to physically participate in the marathon.
Note: Donations raised and received by The Blue Card cannot be refunded, even if you cancel before August 13, 2010.
